/zu-kar/ sugar/ we could all do with a little more sweetness in our lives

This is going to be a post that is continued from here, here, here and here.

Lila loves sweet things.

It wasn’t a surprise to anyone who got to know her in the short few weeks either.

The first ever time she was invited to hang out, outside of the Uni was actually by Gobbler. The party of 5, including Lila were all localites. They headed to a popular fast food chain restaurant.

Back then, he wasn’t as annoying or maybe Gobbler just took advantage of the benefit of the doubts. It was actually a pretty good evening after all.

Lila was pleased that Diego chose to sat next to her and this led them to have more conversations. Despite everyone being a localite, they spoke mainly in English and Lila spent the time getting to know everyone else too.

Since she wasn’t hungry, she just had a hot chocolate with cookies.

Now, in the meal combo which the rest of them had also came a cookie. Diego not being a big fan of sweets, kindly made the first offer to Lila. She politely declined as she already had her share.

The brief but eventful evening came to an end and everyone parted their ways.

Lila felt happy to have made friends that would meet up, outside of the University as well. (This was much before she knew her now best friend and the girl group that she later knew as well)

Cut to a couple of weeks later.

This is the end of the module. It’s the last ever day.

Lila, Diego and Gobbler have a presentation to give. They had been working on it, together on call till 3 am the previous night. They were anxious, except Diego. Diego was cool and composed, as always, and tried numerous times to calm Lila down while they watched the first group present.

It was their turn. Lila’s anxiety would not let her be still. Diego stood only by her side for throughout the 15 minute presentation and the 30 minute questionnaire and feedback that followed. Gobbler actually did not even seem to be a part of the group.

During the 45 minutes they were up front facing the class, Diego and Lila whispered, laughed, celebrated, and rejoiced in their success. Diego was also very impressed by the way Lila could answer the questions thrown at them. It was an eventful presentation.

The same plan was hatched to celebrate and the same party of 5 decided to go. Except this time, Lila invited her best friend. And maybe that made all the difference.

Despite having an extremely good, if not flirty, but friendly first half of the day, Diego turned out to be very cold for the second half. Even though Diego was sitting right next to Lila, yet again, this time they were poles apart . Lila was constantly ignored. Every conversation took place in German. She was not bothered to be included even when she tried to contribute. Lila was just extremely grateful to have her best friend on the opposite side. They exchanged amusing stories, laughter was a plenty. And even when the German conversation had a lull and the others started listening in to these stories and contribute, Diego would abruptly start another conversation off topic.

They parted ways.

Lila walked back with her best friend and thanked them profusely for having her back. In the quiet of the walk, she realised her value and worth and decided to forget and move on, cause sometimes no matter how hard you try, it’s okay to let go.

And that’s a wrap.

For a last minute A-Z decision, no prior planning and a random theme, I don’t think I did too bad a job.

What a weird year it has been. And it’s only been 5 months lol.

Anyway, I’ll save some of this content for the reflections post xD

Bis bald!

(P.S- to the other bloggers that I used to “regularly” visit, I’ll be there… soon-ish!)

xx
